The first book I read was the alex cross novel "Along came a spider" around 9 years ago and have read every JP book I can get my hands on since.

Me too, i just love his books and they get better and better each time. Can't wait for the other 3 to be released so i can get my hands on them. Really looking forward to Alex Cross being in Africa :)

When I started reading JP, I usually set non-Alex books aside for later, then I read the Beach House, and changed my mind, I realized that though I really like Alex, it was the writer who made the book, not the character.

I think my first read was Along Came a Spider around 1994 and I have been hooked since. I like to read them in order and most times get the newest book as soon as it comes out. I won't read them out of order. I guess I'm anal like that. The one I've had a hard time finishing is 'Season of the Machete'. I am determined to read his books from the 70s too because to be a true fan, you must read just about EVERYTHING. The only thing that gets me upset sometime is that he pumps them out so fast that it's hard to keep up & give other authors time and attention too. I wonder where he gets it from. I've seen him in an interview and he seems son gentle and mild-mannered.

Ha!
I read the books out of sequence. Jack and Jill, Kiss the Girls, Along Came a Spider, Cat and Mouse, Double Cross, The Big Bad Wolf, London Bridges, Four Blind Mice, Pop Goes The Weasel, Roses are Red, Mary Mary, Cross, and Violets are Blue. So I knew about the secret of Kyle Craig before 'the big reveal'.

I guess I'm just crazy that way.

Hey Rena, I know what ya mean.. I read the books out of sequence myself too at first, but then re-read them in order and now follow the whole series!!! Like I've stated before, I got hooked on James Patterson in 1992, when I was pregnant with my now 17 yr old son, and trust me, I STILL can't put any of his novels down no matter how hard I try!!! LOL... This is the best site i've found in ages that actually understands the reader's point of view even though some of us may tend to disagree on things from time to time.. Hope you have a happy new year Rena, and Read on my friend, Read on...

I agree with you...it's hard to keep up when he pumps them out so quickly - but I'm not complaining it keeps me reading faster and still asking for more. I began reading JP about 1996 and it was Roses Are Red, I was hooked and began buying all I could get my hands on. I love the Cross series and thrilled with the Women's Murder Club books (I wish the series on TV was still on) but really love all his books. I also want to go back and get some of his older books in the 70s as well because I am a true fan! Keep up the thrills & chills JP!!!

Colleen, yeah it was on ABC for only one season on Friday nights a year or so ago. It has since been cancelled. I wish they would have done one more episode to tie up the cliffhanger they left us with.
