I think this will make an interesting topic, as well as help inform some of those that have not read all 14...perhaps inspire them to pick them up.

Double Cross: Just a ton of excellent twists surrounding the villians. The fact that Cross was dupped in essense by his patients was great, not to mention Kyle is back in the equation.

London Bridges: What is better than one psycho, well answer is two. The Wolf and Weasel make a terrific tandem, which is made better by the fact that Weasel is scared of Wolf. I do admitt the rubber ball ending was a tad weak, as if it was the wife that would of been amazing, but still alot of quality.

Four Blind Mice: This was first Cross book I ever read and totally hooked me. The first 3 Mice, so to speak, are bastards and it works. The scene where Cross though Sampson was dead was amazing. This is imo the book that could make the best movie, Cat and Mouse being a close second.

Pop Goes The Weasel: I loved Geoffrey as a villian, the "game", mixed with abductions, as well as struggle Cross had to dea l with in investigating made it very solid addition.

Cat & Mouse: What can I say, Gary was around, there was a Kyle Craig like twist, the reason behind the killings, was fabulous. Perhaps my favorite, although among these 5 too close to call.

top five i love rankings!

5- Double Cross- I love Kyle Craig I think he would annihilate any other of the JP villians. This comes in fifth because I dont really buy the DCAK charactor and the copycat of DCAK makes no sense to me. If it werent for the presence of Kyle this would probably be my least favorite of the books.

4- Mary Mary- probably the most realistic of the JP villians in terms of actual psychosis and violently acting on that psychosis.

3- Roses are Red/Violets are Blue- While these are two books I group them as one because the entire time Alex is in conflict with the Mastermind Kyle Craig. The planning exhibited by Craig in Roses is almost too good, which under normal circumstances is bad but here it fits with how the Mastermind character should be played. Violets is important because thats when Kyle finally goes over the edge and screws up enough to get caught by Cross. It was during their little discussion in the kitchen where Craig admits that murdering Cavalierre was over the line but a necessity, which makes his sudden crumbling more believable. Also the competition of Craigs skills in law enforcement vs Cross's similar skills are put to the test and Cross essentially wins this battle too which I think is the reason why Kyle obsessively hates Cross throughout the books

2- London Bridges- Zamochit is just freakin cool. Also there was a lot of the deliberate planning that I liked a lot in Roses are Red, but on a bigger yet less overly dramatic scale, as rather than everything always going according to the Wolfs original plan he had contigencies always in place and sometimes actually had to use them. Also the constant bouncing between the Wolf's actual identity was awesome though I think it should have stopped with Klara. I half envisioned her as the real Wolf and hooking up and getting impregnated by Kyle Craig to give birth to the Antichrist. A fan fiction in the making perhaps.

1- Cat and Mouse- Other than the actual start to the series and introduction of the chractors I think this is the actual start of the series. Cross's initial nemesis Soneji is dealt with in a very final way and that chapter closes, plus the seed of Kyle Craig is watered and nurtured setting up the Roses/Violets conflict and capture. Since I see this book as not necessarily the starting point for Cross v Craig, but definitly necessary to understand the dynamics of the two rivals. Mr. Smith also acts as an awesome foreshadow to what is to come.

In no particular order:-

Cat and Mouse An absolute roller coaster of a novel.

London Bridges Liked the way two villans of previous books (The Wolf and The Weasel) were re-introduced.

Kiss the Girls Quite a graphic read with two great baddies, Casanova and The Gentleman Caller.

Four Blind Mice A slightly different adventure for Cross and Sampson.

Cross An interesting look at Cross's earlier life.

My top 5 would have to be:

4 BLIND MICE: LOVE THIS ONE! The story line was great, it keep me on the edge of my seat, never a dull moment as far as I was concerned, and the part where Cross thought Sampson was dead, then the twist where he steps up and helps save Alex was AWESOME!

CAT & MOUSE: Again, the story line was really well written in this one. I really enjoyed the twist with Kyle Craig, and Gary Sonji (one of the best killers in the books in my opinion) made this book.

JACK & JILL: The twist and turns were endless in this one for me, never expected it to be someone on the inside!

MARY, MARY: The twist at the end....was amazing....loved this book...very good read

DOUBLE CROSS: The fact that it was his patients who were the killers, was absolutely mind blowing! Loved this book also!

1st to Die - This was the first of Patterson's books I have ever read. I am hooked on Lindsay and Patterson overall. The entire Women's Murder Club series ties for first
Along Came A Spider - I saw the movie, but the book was a thousand times better. Always is.
Kiss the Girls - I didn't think I could like Alex anymore after the first, but I was wrong. I can't wait to read Jack and Jill.
